Criminal cases shall be heard and decided by a multiple-judge chamber, except for exceptions provided for by law.
The judge who has conducted any investigation in the case as a judge-commissioner (rechter-commissaris) shall not, subject to the application of Article 316, paragraph 2, take part in the investigation at the hearing, on pain of nullity.
No person other than the judges and the registrar shall take a seat at the bench of the court.
Strafzaken worden behandeld en beslist door een meervoudige kamer, behoudens in de wet genoemde uitzonderingen.
De rechter die als rechter-commissaris enig onderzoek in de zaak heeft verricht, neemt, behoudens bij toepassing van artikel 316, tweede lid, op straffe van nietigheid aan het onderzoek op de terechtzitting geen deel.
Behalve de rechters en de griffier neemt aan de tafel der rechtbank niemand plaats.
