Any person who places his signature on a cheque as a representative of a person for whom he had no authority to act, is himself bound by virtue of the cheque and, having paid, has the same rights as the purported represented person would have had. The same applies in respect of the representative who has exceeded his authority.
Ieder, die zijne handteekening op eene chèque plaatst als vertegenwoordiger van eenen persoon, voor wien hij niet de bevoegdheid had te handelen, is zelf krachtens de chèque verbonden, en heeft, betaald hebbende, dezelfde rechten, als de beweerde vertegenwoordigde zou hebben gehad. Hetzelfde geldt ten aanzien van den vertegenwoordiger, die zijne bevoegdheid heeft overschreden.
