A requested person whose detention has been ordered in accordance with Article 18 shall be released – without prejudice to the possibility of further deprivation of liberty on other grounds – if:

a.

as soon as this is ordered by the court, the examining magistrate or the public prosecutor, either of their own motion or upon the petition of the person claimed or their counsel;

b.

as soon as the detention has lasted for twenty days and the European arrest warrant has not yet been received.

Een opgeëiste persoon wiens bewaring overeenkomstig artikel 18 is bevolen, wordt – behoudens de mogelijkheid van verdere vrijheidsbeneming uit anderen hoofde – in vrijheid gesteld:

a.

zodra zulks door de rechtbank, de rechter-commissaris of de officier van justitie, ambtshalve of op verzoek van de opgeëiste persoon of diens raadsman, wordt gelast;

b.

zodra de bewaring twintig dagen heeft geduurd en het Europees aanhoudingsbevel nog niet is ontvangen.
