If both parties are natural persons and neither party is acting in the exercise of a profession or business, interest shall be due on the amount borrowed only if this has been stipulated in writing.

In other cases, the borrower is obliged to pay interest on the sum borrowed, unless it follows from the agreement that no interest is due.

Indien beide partijen natuurlijke personen zijn en geen van beide partijen in de uitoefening van een beroep of bedrijf handelt, is over het geleende bedrag slechts rente verschuldigd, indien dit schriftelijk is bedongen.
2.
In andere gevallen is de lener verplicht over de geleende som rente te betalen, tenzij uit de overeenkomst voortvloeit dat geen rente verschuldigd is.
