1.
An obligation is alternative when the debtor is bound to perform one of two or more different performances at the choice of himself, of the creditor or of a third party.
2.
The choice belongs to the debtor, unless otherwise follows from the law, custom, or a juridical act.

Een verbintenis is alternatief, wanneer de schuldenaar verplicht is tot één van twee of meer verschillende prestaties ter keuze van hemzelf, van de schuldeiser of van een derde.
2.
De keuze komt toe aan de schuldenaar, tenzij uit wet, gewoonte of rechtshandeling anders voortvloeit.
