The mentor is obliged to involve the person for whose benefit the mentorship has been established as much as possible in the performance of his duties. The mentor shall encourage the person concerned to perform legal acts and other acts himself, if the latter can be deemed capable of a reasonable assessment of his interests in the matter. He shall exercise the care of a good mentor.
The mentor is liable towards the person concerned if he fails in the care of a good mentor, unless the failure cannot be attributed to him.
De mentor is gehouden degene ten behoeve van wie het mentorschap is ingesteld zo veel mogelijk bij de vervulling van zijn taak te betrekken. De mentor bevordert dat de betrokkene rechtshandelingen en andere handelingen zelf verricht, indien deze tot een redelijke waardering van zijn belangen ter zake in staat kan worden geacht. Hij betracht de zorg van een goed mentor.
De mentor is jegens de betrokkene aansprakelijk, indien hij in de zorg van een goed mentor te kort schiet, tenzij de tekortkoming hem niet kan worden toegerekend.
