The seal of the civil-law notary shall contain the royal coat of arms and, in the marginal inscription, the capacity of civil-law notary, the initials of his first names, his surname, and his place of establishment. The seal shall be affixed to all deeds issued by him and to all grossen, copies and extracts, certificates of inheritance or European certificates of succession as referred to in Articles 188 and 188a respectively of Book 4 of the Civil Code, legalisations, and other declarations issued by the civil-law notary in that capacity. The seal shall also be used for the act referred to in Article 658 of the Code of Civil Procedure, and for other sealings performed by the civil-law notary in that capacity.
The civil-law notary must ensure that the seal cannot be misused.
Het zegel van de notaris bevat het koninklijk wapen en in het randschrift de hoedanigheid van notaris, de eerste letters van zijn voornamen, zijn naam en zijn plaats van vestiging. Het zegel wordt aangebracht op alle door hem uit te geven akten en af te geven grossen, afschriften en uittreksels, verklaringen van erfrecht of Europese erfrechtverklaringen als bedoeld in respectievelijk artikel 188 en 188a van Boek 4 van het Burgerlijk Wetboek, legalisaties en andere verklaringen die door de notaris als zodanig worden afgegeven. Het zegel wordt tevens gebezigd bij de handeling, bedoeld in artikel 658 van het Wetboek van Burgerlijke Rechtsvordering, en andere verzegelingen die de notaris als zodanig verricht.
De notaris moet ervoor zorgen dat van het zegel geen misbruik kan worden gemaakt.
