in forceThe administrative tasks allocated to the Union shall be performed by the International Bureau, which is a continuation of the Bureau of the Union united with the Bureau of the Union established by the international Convention for the Protection of Literary and Artistic Works.
The International Bureau shall, in particular, provide the secretariat for the various bodies of the Union.
The Director-General of the Organisation is the highest official of the Union and also its representative.
The International Bureau shall collect and publish information concerning the protection of industrial property. Each country of the Union shall notify the International Bureau as soon as possible of the text of all new laws as well as all official texts concerning the protection of industrial property. Furthermore, it shall provide the International Bureau with all publications of its services competent in the field of industrial property which directly concern the protection of industrial property and which, in the opinion of the International Bureau, are of interest for its activities.
The International Bureau publishes a monthly journal.
Upon request, the International Bureau shall provide each country of the Union with information on matters concerning the protection of industrial property.
The International Bureau conducts studies and provides services for the promotion of the protection of industrial property.
The Director-General and any member of the staff designated by him shall participate without voting rights in all meetings of the General Assembly, the Executive Committee, and all other committees of experts or working groups. The Director-General or a member of the staff designated by him shall be the secretary of those bodies ex officio.
The International Bureau shall, in accordance with the directions of the General Assembly and in cooperation with the Executive Committee, prepare the conferences for the revision of the provisions of the Convention, with the exception of Articles 13 to 17 inclusive.
The International Bureau may, in the preparation of the revision conferences, seek the advice of intergovernmental and non-governmental international organisations.
The Director-General and the persons designated by him shall participate in the deliberations during these review conferences without the right to vote.
The International Bureau shall perform all other tasks assigned to it.
De administratieve taken die aan de Unie ten deel vallen worden verricht door het Internationale Bureau, dat een voortzetting is van het Bureau van de Unie verenigd met het Bureau van de Unie ingesteld bij de internationale Conventie voor de bescherming van literaire werken en kunstwerken.
Het Internationale Bureau voorziet met name in het secretariaat van de verschillende organen van de Unie.
De Directeur-Generaal van de Organisatie is de hoogste functionaris van de Unie en tevens haar vertegenwoordiger.
Het Internationale Bureau verzamelt en publiceert de gegevens betreffende de bescherming van de industriële eigendom. Elk land van de Unie stelt het Internationale Bureau zo spoedig mogelijk in kennis van de tekst van alle nieuwe wetten alsmede van alle officiële teksten betreffende de bescherming van de industriële eigendom. Bovendien verstrekt het aan het Internationale Bureau alle bekendmakingen van zijn op het gebied van de industriële eigendom bevoegde diensten die rechtstreeks de bescherming van de industriële eigendom betreffen en die naar het oordeel van het Internationale Bureau van belang zijn voor zijn werkzaamheden.
Het Internationale Bureau geeft een maandelijks verschijnend blad uit.
Op verzoek verstrekt het Internationale Bureau aan elk land van de Unie inlichtingen inzake vraagstukken betreffende de bescherming van de industriële eigendom.
Het Internationale Bureau verricht studies en verleent diensten ter bevordering van de bescherming van de industriële eigendom.
De Directeur-Generaal en ieder door hem aangewezen lid van het personeel nemen zonder stemrecht deel aan alle bijeenkomsten van de Algemene Vergadering, van de Uitvoerende Commissie en van alle andere commissies van deskundigen of werkgroepen. De Directeur-Generaal of een door hem aangewezen lid van het personeel is ambtshalve secretaris van die organen.
Het Internationale Bureau bereidt volgens de aanwijzingen van de Algemene Vergadering en in samenwerking met de Uitvoerende Commissie de conferenties voor ter herziening van de bepalingen van het Verdrag, met uitzondering van de artikelen 13 tot en met 17.
Het Internationale Bureau kan bij de voorbereiding van de herzieningsconferenties het advies inwinnen van intergouvernementele en niet-gouvernementele internationale organisaties.
De Directeur-Generaal en de door hem aangewezen personen nemen zonder stemrecht deel aan de beraadslagingen tijdens deze herzieningsconferenties.
Het Internationale Bureau voert alle overige aan hem opgedragen taken uit.
