The members of the supervisory committee shall at all times have access to all areas within the institution and to all places where the persons under treatment reside.
The members of the supervisory committee shall receive from the head of the institution and the staff members or employees in the institution all information requested by them regarding the persons in care, and they may inspect all documents relating to the manner of execution of custodial sentences and measures. They are obliged to maintain confidentiality, except insofar as any statutory provision obliges them to disclose or the necessity for disclosure arises in connection with the execution of their duties. Files concerning persons in care may be inspected, unless the person in care objects.
The head of the institution shall bring all facts and circumstances relevant to the performance of the committee's task to the attention of the committee.
De leden van de commissie van toezicht hebben te allen tijde toegang tot alle plaatsen in de inrichting en tot alle plaatsen waar de verpleegden verblijven.
De leden van de commissie van toezicht ontvangen van het hoofd van de inrichting en de personeelsleden of medewerkers in de inrichting alle door hen gewenste inlichtingen ten aanzien van de verpleegden en kunnen alle op de wijze van tenuitvoerlegging van vrijheidsbenemende straffen en maatregelen betrekking hebbende stukken inzien. Zij zijn tot geheimhouding verplicht behoudens voor zover enig wettelijk voorschrift hen tot bekendmaking verplicht of in verband met de tenuitvoerlegging van hun taak de noodzaak tot bekendmaking voortvloeit. Dossiers die verpleegden betreffen kunnen worden ingezien, tenzij de verpleegde bezwaar maakt.
Het hoofd van de inrichting brengt alle voor de uitoefening van de taak der commissie belangrijke feiten en omstandigheden ter kennis van de commissie.
