Without prejudice to the 1993 Hague Adoption Convention, the Act of 14 May 1998 implementing the Convention on Protection of Children and Co-operation in Respect of Intercountry Adoption concluded at The Hague on 29 May 1993 (Stb. 1998, 302) and the Act on the Placement of Foreign Children for Adoption, in this title adoption is understood to mean the decision of a competent authority whereby family law relationships are established between a minor child and two persons jointly or one person alone.
Onverminderd het Haags Adoptieverdrag 1993, de Wet van 14 mei 1998 tot uitvoering van het op 29 mei 1993 te ’s-Gravenhage tot stand gekomen Verdrag inzake de bescherming van kinderen en de samenwerking op het gebied van de inderlandelijke adoptie (Stb. 1998, 302) en de Wet opneming buitenlandse kinderen ter adoptie, wordt in deze titel onder adoptie verstaan de beslissing van een bevoegde autoriteit waarbij familierechtelijke betrekkingen tussen een minderjarig kind en twee personen tezamen of een persoon alleen tot stand worden gebracht.
