Notwithstanding Article 154, an arbitration agreement is substantively valid if it is valid under the law chosen by the parties or under the law of the place of arbitration or, if the parties have not made a choice of law, under the law applicable to the legal relationship to which the arbitration agreement relates.
In afwijking van artikel 154 is een overeenkomst tot arbitrage materieel geldig als zij geldig is naar het recht dat partijen hebben gekozen of naar het recht van de plaats van arbitrage of, indien partijen geen rechtskeuze hebben gedaan, naar het recht dat van toepassing is op de rechtsbetrekking waarop de arbitrageovereenkomst betrekking heeft.
