The municipal executive (college van burgemeester en wethouders) may, in the event that this is necessary for the proper implementation of this Act, decide to provide facilities directly on behalf of the municipality in the interest of public housing.
If, for the implementation of the first paragraph, housing units are constructed by the municipality, this shall only occur if it is plausible that the demand for housing will not be sufficiently met by the construction of housing units by approved institutions.
Het college van burgemeester en wethouders kan, ingeval dit noodzakelijk is voor het naar behoren uitvoeren van deze wet, besluiten rechtstreeks van gemeentewege voorzieningen in het belang van de volkshuisvesting te treffen.
Indien ter uitvoering van het eerste lid van gemeentewege woongelegenheden worden gebouwd, geschiedt dit slechts, indien aannemelijk is, dat door het bouwen van woongelegenheden door toegelaten instellingen niet voldoende in de woningbehoefte zal worden voorzien.
