In this Section, the following definitions apply:
1970 UNESCO Convention: Convention on the Means of Prohibiting and Preventing the Illicit Import, Export and Transfer of Ownership of Cultural Property, concluded at Paris on 14 November 1970 (Trb. 1972, no. 50 and Trb. 1983, no. 66);
Contracting State: a State that has ratified the 1970 UNESCO Convention;
cultural property: an object which, on religious or secular grounds, is designated by each State Party as being of importance for archaeology, prehistory, history, literature, art or science and is therefore of essential importance for its cultural heritage, and which belongs to the categories listed in Article 1 of the 1970 UNESCO Convention.
In deze paragraaf wordt verstaan onder:
Unesco-verdrag 1970: op 14 november 1970 te Parijs tot stand gekomen Overeenkomst inzake de middelen om onrechtmatige invoer, uitvoer of eigendomsoverdracht van cultuurgoederen te verbieden en te verhinderen (Trb. 1972, nr. 50 en Trb. 1983, nr. 66);
verdragsstaat: staat die het Unesco-verdrag 1970 heeft bekrachtigd;
cultuurgoed: zaak die door elke verdragsstaat om godsdienstige of wereldlijke redenen is aangewezen als belangrijk voor de oudheidkunde, de prehistorie, de geschiedenis, de letterkunde, de kunst of de wetenschap en derhalve van wezenlijk belang is voor zijn cultureel erfgoed en die behoort tot de in artikel 1 van het Unesco-verdrag 1970 opgesomde categorieën.
