1).

Independently of the author's economic rights, and even after the transfer of the said rights, the author shall have the right to claim authorship of the work and to object to any distortion, mutilation or other modification of, or other derogatory action in relation to, the said work, which would be prejudicial to his honor or reputation.

The rights granted to the author in accordance with the preceding paragraph shall, after his death, be maintained, at least until the expiry of the economic rights, and shall be exercisable by the persons or institutions authorized by the legislation of the country where protection is claimed. However, those countries whose legislation, at the moment of their ratification of or accession to this Act, does not provide for the protection after the death of the author of all the rights set out in the preceding paragraph may provide that some of these rights may, after his death, cease to be maintained.

The means of redress for safeguarding the rights granted by this Article shall be governed by the legislation of the country where protection is claimed.

Onafhankelijk van de vermogensrechtelijke auteursrechten, en zelfs na overdracht van die rechten, behoudt de auteur het recht om het auteurschap van het werk op te eisen, en om zich te verzetten tegen elke misvorming, verminking of andere wijziging van dat werk, of tegen elke andere aantasting daarvan, die nadeel zou kunnen toebrengen aan zijn eer of zijn goede naam.

De krachtens het eerste lid hierboven aan de auteur toegekende rechten worden na zijn dood gehandhaafd ten minste tot het vervallen van de vermogensrechten, en uitgeoefend door de daartoe door de nationale wetgeving van het land waar de bescherming wordt ingeroepen bevoegd verklaarde personen of instellingen. De landen, wier wetgeving op het tijdstip van de bekrachtiging van deze Akte of van de toetreding daartoe, geen bepalingen bevat die na de dood van de auteur de bescherming verzekeren van alle krachtens het eerste lid hierboven toegekende rechten, zijn evenwel bevoegd te bepalen dat enige van deze rechten niet gehandhaafd blijven na de dood van de auteur.

De rechtsmiddelen ter handhaving van de in dit artikel toegekende rechten worden geregeld door de wetgeving van het land waar de bescherming wordt ingeroepen.
