The patient has the right to profess and practice his religion or belief, individually or in community with others, freely.
The head of the institution shall ensure that sufficient spiritual care, which as far as possible corresponds to the religion or philosophy of life of the persons being cared for, is available within the institution.
The head of the institution shall provide the person in care with the opportunity, at the times and places established in the house rules:
to maintain personal contact with the spiritual counsellor of the religion or philosophy of life of his choice, who is attached to the institution;
to maintain contact with spiritual counsellors other than those mentioned under (a) in accordance with the provisions of Article 37;
to attend religious and ideological meetings of his choice held within the institution, unless the head of the institution prohibits this in connection with the maintenance of order or safety within the institution.
Further rules may be established by or pursuant to an Order in Council regarding the availability of spiritual care. These rules may pertain to the provision of spiritual care by or on behalf of various religious or ideological denominations, to the organisation and funding of spiritual care, and to the appointment of spiritual counsellors at an institution.
De verpleegde heeft het recht zijn godsdienst of levensovertuiging, individueel of in gemeenschap met anderen, vrij te belijden en te beleven.
Het hoofd van de instelling draagt zorg dat in de instelling voldoende geestelijke verzorging, die zoveel mogelijk aansluit bij de godsdienst of levensovertuiging van de verpleegden, beschikbaar is.
Het hoofd van de instelling stelt de verpleegde in de gelegenheid op in de huisregels vastgestelde tijden en plaatsen:
persoonlijk contact te onderhouden met de geestelijke verzorger van de godsdienst of levensovertuiging van zijn keuze, die aan de instelling is verbonden;
contact te onderhouden met andere dan de onder a genoemde geestelijke verzorgers volgens het bepaalde in artikel 37;
in de instelling te houden godsdienstige en levensbeschouwelijke bijeenkomsten van zijn keuze bij te wonen, tenzij het hoofd van de instelling dit verbiedt in verband met de handhaving van de orde of de veiligheid in de instelling.
Bij of krachtens algemene maatregel van bestuur kunnen nadere regels worden gesteld ten aanzien van de beschikbaarheid van de geestelijke verzorging. Deze regels kunnen betrekking hebben op de verlening van geestelijke verzorging door of vanwege verschillende richtingen van godsdienst of levensovertuiging, op de organisatie en de bekostiging van de geestelijke verzorging en op de aanstelling van geestelijke verzorgers bij een instelling.
