The presiding judge may, of the court's own motion, upon the demand of the public prosecutor, or at the request of the defendant, determine that questions regarding the mental faculties of the defendant shall be put and addressed outside of the defendant's presence, and furthermore that the public prosecutor or the counsel shall address the court regarding the defendant's mental faculties outside of the defendant's presence.
Upon the return of the defendant to the courtroom, he shall be informed of what has occurred during his absence.
De voorzitter kan ambtshalve of op vordering van de officier van justitie of op verzoek van de verdachte bepalen dat de vragen met betrekking tot de geestvermogens van de verdachte buiten diens tegenwoordigheid zullen worden gesteld en behandeld, en voorts dat de officier van justitie of de raadsman buiten de tegenwoordigheid van de verdachte betreffende diens geestvermogens het woord zal voeren.
Na terugkeer van de verdachte in de zittingzaal wordt hem mededeling gedaan van wat tijdens zijn afwezigheid is voorgevallen.
