The person who has lost a bill of exchange of which he was the holder, and which has fallen due, and, in so far as necessary, has been protested, may, with due observance of Article 49, paragraph 3, of Book 6 of the Civil Code, exercise his rights only against the acceptor and against the drawer.

Degene die een wisselbrief waarvan hij houder was, en welke is vervallen, en, zoveel nodig, geprotesteerd, vermist, kan met inachtneming van artikel 49, derde lid, van Boek 6 van het Burgerlijk Wetboek, zijn rechten alleen tegen de acceptant en tegen de trekker uitoefenen.
