The registration plate must be properly visible on or attached to the motor vehicle or the trailer.
Further rules regarding the design, the affixing, and the illumination of the registration mark shall be established by Order in Council, and rules shall be established regarding the registration plate and its components, as well as the marks to be applied thereto.
Further rules shall be established by ministerial regulation for the implementation of the provisions pursuant to the second paragraph.
Liable for a violation of the first paragraph or of the provisions pursuant to the second or third paragraph are:
insofar as it concerns a motor vehicle, the owner or holder who leaves the motor vehicle on the road or allows it to be driven on the road, as well as, in the event that the motor vehicle is driven on the road, the driver, and
insofar as it concerns a trailer, the owner or holder who leaves the trailer on the road or has it moved along the road by a motor vehicle, as well as, in the event that the trailer is moved along the road by a motor vehicle, the driver of that motor vehicle.
Het kenteken dient behoorlijk zichtbaar op of aan het motorrijtuig of de aanhangwagen aanwezig te zijn.
Bij algemene maatregel van bestuur worden nadere regels vastgesteld omtrent de inrichting, het aanbrengen en de verlichting van het kenteken en worden regels vastgesteld omtrent de kentekenplaat en de onderdelen daarvan, alsmede de daarop aan te brengen merken.
Bij ministeriële regeling worden nadere regels vastgesteld ter uitvoering van het bepaalde krachtens het tweede lid.
Voor overtreding van het eerste lid dan wel het bepaalde krachtens het tweede of derde lid zijn aansprakelijk:
voor zover het betreft een motorrijtuig, de eigenaar of houder die het motorrijtuig op de weg laat staan of daarmee over de weg laat rijden, alsmede in het geval dat met dat motorrijtuig over de weg wordt gereden, de bestuurder, en
voor zover het betreft een aanhangwagen, de eigenaar of houder die de aanhangwagen op de weg laat staan of deze met een motorrijtuig over de weg laat voortbewegen, alsmede in het geval dat de aanhangwagen met een motorrijtuig over de weg wordt voortbewogen, de bestuurder van dat motorrijtuig.
