If the claim referred to in Article 31, paragraph 1, is not satisfied, the official is authorised, by way of a provisional measure, to place the vehicle in custody until the amount of the imposed administrative sanction and the administrative sanction already due, as well as the administrative costs and the costs of the custody incurred in the meantime, have been paid. To this end, he may, at the expense of the driver, move or cause the vehicle to be moved to a nearby location designated by him and have it placed in custody there. If necessary, he shall call upon the assistance of the police for this purpose. Article 29, paragraphs 3 and 4, shall apply mutatis mutandis.
Indien aan de in artikel 31, eerste lid, bedoelde vordering niet wordt voldaan, is de ambtenaar bevoegd bij wijze van voorlopige maatregel het voertuig in bewaring te stellen, totdat het bedrag van de opgelegde en van de reeds verschuldigde administratieve sanctie en van de administratiekosten, alsmede de inmiddels daarop gevallen kosten van de inbewaringstelling zijn voldaan. Daartoe kan hij op kosten van de bestuurder het voertuig naar een door hem aangewezen nabijgelegen plaats overbrengen of doen overbrengen en aldaar in bewaring doen stellen. Zo nodig roept hij hierbij de hulp van de sterke arm in. Artikel 29, derde en vierde lid, is van overeenkomstige toepassing.
