The examining magistrate (rechter-commissaris) charged with the handling of criminal cases at the court of the district in which a fugitive has been placed in police custody in accordance with Article 14, may, upon the motion of the public prosecutor at that court, order the detention of the fugitive.
Before issuing an order pursuant to the preceding paragraph, the examining magistrate shall, if possible, hear the fugitive.
De rechter-commissaris, belast met de behandeling van strafzaken, in de rechtbank van het arrondissement waarin een voortvluchtige overeenkomstig artikel 14 in verzekering is gesteld, kan, op vordering van de officier van justitie bij die rechtbank, de bewaring van de voortvluchtige bevelen.
Alvorens een bevel ingevolge het vorige lid te geven, hoort de rechter-commissaris zo mogelijk de voortvluchtige.
