The executor who is charged with the administration of the estate may appoint an estate notary (boedelnotaris); the latter shall give notice of the acceptance of his mandate to the heirs.

He shall, with all due speed, prepare an inventory of the estate, including a provisional statement of the debts of the estate, and call upon the creditors known to him to submit their claims to the estate notary or, in the absence thereof, to one of the executors. The submission of a claim shall interrupt the prescription.

De executeur die met het beheer van de nalatenschap is belast, kan een boedelnotaris aanwijzen; deze geeft van de aanvaarding van zijn opdracht kennis aan de erfgenamen.

Hij moet met bekwame spoed een boedelbeschrijving met inbegrip van een voorlopige staat van de schulden der nalatenschap opmaken en de hem bekende schuldeisers oproepen tot indiening van hun vorderingen bij de boedelnotaris of, indien deze ontbreekt, bij een der executeurs. De aanmelding van een vordering stuit de verjaring.
