The presiding judge examines the defendant.
If there is more than one defendant, the presiding judge shall determine the order in which the defendants are to be examined.
The presiding judge may determine that the defendant shall be examined in the absence of one or more co-defendants or witnesses.
During the further course of the proceedings, questions may be put to the suspect by the presiding judge, the judges, the public prosecutor, the counsel, and the co-suspect.
Article 293 shall apply mutatis mutandis.
During the examination of the suspect, it shall be investigated as much as possible whether their statement is based on their own knowledge.
De voorzitter ondervraagt de verdachte.
Is er meer dan één verdachte, dan bepaalt de voorzitter in welke volgorde de verdachten worden ondervraagd.
De voorzitter kan bepalen dat de verdachte buiten tegenwoordigheid van een of meer medeverdachten of getuigen zal worden ondervraagd.
Gedurende de verdere loop van het onderzoek kunnen aan de verdachte door de voorzitter, de rechters, de officier van justitie, de raadsman en de medeverdachte vragen worden gesteld.
Artikel 293 is van overeenkomstige toepassing.
Bij het verhoor van de verdachte wordt zo veel mogelijk onderzocht, of zijn verklaring op eigen wetenschap berust.
