A government body that has reasonable doubt regarding the accuracy of an authentic datum recorded in the vehicle registration register shall report such doubt, stating the reasons therefor, to the Netherlands Vehicle Authority (Dienst Wegverkeer).
If a notification as referred to in the first paragraph concerns data originating from another basic registration, the Netherlands Vehicle Authority (Dienst Wegverkeer) shall forward the notification to the administrator of that register, unless it has been agreed with the public body that makes a notification as referred to in the first paragraph that this public body shall make the notification directly to the administrator of the register from which the authentic data originates.
Upon receipt of a notification as referred to in the first paragraph, the Netherlands Vehicle Authority (Dienst Wegverkeer) shall record in the vehicle registration register, in the manner to be determined by said authority, that the relevant data is "under investigation", unless it concerns a notification that is forwarded to the administrator of another basic register pursuant to the second paragraph.
If a notification as referred to in the first paragraph relates to data that has been designated as authentic by or pursuant to this Act, the Netherlands Vehicle Authority (Dienst Wegverkeer) shall decide on the amendment of the data and shall notify the public body that made the notification of this decision without delay.
If the decision referred to in the fourth paragraph leads to an amendment of the authentic data, the Netherlands Vehicle Authority (Dienst Wegverkeer) shall notify the person to whom the authentic data relates, or the person to whom the registration certificate has been issued for the motor vehicle or trailer to which the relevant authentic data relates, without delay.
The Netherlands Vehicle Authority (Dienst Wegverkeer) shall remove the annotation that a datum is under investigation once the decision regarding the amendment has become irrevocable.
Further rules may be established by or pursuant to an Order in Council for the implementation of this Article.
Een overheidsorgaan dat gerede twijfel heeft over de juistheid van een in het kentekenregister opgenomen authentiek gegeven, meldt die twijfel, onder opgave van redenen, aan de Dienst Wegverkeer.
Indien een melding als bedoeld in het eerste lid betrekking heeft op een gegeven dat afkomstig is uit een andere basisregistratie zendt de Dienst Wegverkeer de melding door aan de beheerder van dat register, tenzij met het overheidsorgaan dat een melding als bedoeld in het eerste lid doet is afgesproken dat dit overheidsorgaan de melding rechtstreeks doet aan de beheerder van het register waaruit het authentieke gegeven afkomstig is.
De Dienst Wegverkeer tekent na ontvangst van een melding als bedoeld in het eerste lid, op de door deze dienst te bepalen wijze, in het kentekenregister aan dat het desbetreffende gegeven «in onderzoek» is, tenzij het een melding betreft die op grond van het tweede lid wordt doorgezonden aan de beheerder van een andere basisregistratie.
Indien een melding als bedoeld in het eerste lid betrekking heeft op een gegeven dat bij of krachtens deze wet als authentiek is aangewezen, besluit de Dienst Wegverkeer over wijziging van het gegeven en bericht deze dienst het overheidsorgaan dat de melding heeft gedaan onverwijld over deze beslissing.
Indien het besluit, bedoeld in het vierde lid, leidt tot wijziging van het authentieke gegeven doet de Dienst Wegverkeer onverwijld mededeling aan degene op wie het authentieke gegeven betrekking heeft, dan wel aan degene aan wie het kentekenbewijs is afgegeven voor het motorrijtuig of de aanhangwagen waarop het desbetreffende authentieke gegeven betrekking heeft.
De Dienst Wegverkeer verwijdert de aantekening dat een gegeven in onderzoek is wanneer het besluit omtrent wijziging onherroepelijk is.
Bij of krachtens algemene maatregel van bestuur kunnen ter uitvoering van dit artikel nadere regels worden gesteld.
