In this chapter, policy rules are included as a supplement to or an elaboration of:

1.1 Definitions
In this Chapter, ‘entry’ shall be understood to mean entry into the Schengen area. ‘Departure’ shall be understood to mean departure from the Schengen area.
In the context of the EES, this Chapter refers to ‘Member States’. This shall mean the following countries: the EU countries (excluding Cyprus and Ireland), Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Switzerland.
In dit hoofdstuk zijn beleidsregels opgenomen als aanvulling op of een uitwerking van:
de verordening (EU) nr. 2016/399 (Schengengrenscode);
de Verordening nr. 810/2009 EG (Visumcode);
de Verordening (EU) nr. 2017/2226 (EES);

1.1 Definities
In dit hoofdstuk wordt onder ‘toegang’ verstaan de toegang tot het Schengengebied. Onder ‘vertrek’ wordt verstaan het vertrek uit het Schengengebied.
In het kader van EES wordt in dit hoofdstuk gesproken over ‘lidstaten’. Daarmee worden de volgende landen bedoeld: de landen van de EU (zonder Cyprus en Ierland), Noorwegen, IJsland, Liechtenstein en Zwitserland.
