Immediately upon receipt of the claim referred to in Article 23, the presiding judge of the court shall, as a matter of priority, determine the time at which the person claimed shall be heard by the court. In doing so, he may order that person to be brought before the court.

The registrar of the court shall without delay notify the public prosecutor and the requested person of the time set for the hearing. This notification - as well as, if an order for apprehension has been issued, a copy of that order - shall be served upon the requested person.

In the event that the requested person does not have legal counsel, the presiding judge shall instruct the board of the Legal Aid Board (raad voor rechtsbijstand) to appoint legal counsel.

Dadelijk na de ontvangst van de in artikel 23 bedoelde vordering bepaalt de voorzitter van de rechtbank, zoveel mogelijk bij voorrang, het tijdstip waarop de opgeëiste persoon door de rechtbank zal worden gehoord. Hij kan daarbij diens medebrenging bevelen.

De griffier van de rechtbank doet onverwijld aan de officier van justitie en aan de opgeëiste persoon mededeling van het voor het verhoor bepaalde tijdstip. Die mededeling - alsmede, zo een bevel tot medebrenging is gegeven, een afschrift van dat bevel - wordt aan de opgeëiste persoon betekend.

In geval de opgeëiste persoon geen raadsman heeft, geeft de voorzitter aan het bestuur van de raad voor rechtsbijstand last tot aanwijzing van een raadsman.
