Supplementary signs placed below traffic signs may indicate:
a further explanation of the traffic sign;
in the event that a sub-plate exclusively contains symbols: the traffic sign applies only to the road users or the traffic behaviour indicated in such a manner;
In the event that the word "uitgezonderd" (excepted) appears on a sub-sign in combination with symbols: the traffic sign does not apply to the road users or the traffic conduct indicated in such a manner.
If the intended traffic conduct is indicated by means of texts or signs, whether or not in combination with symbols, the intended traffic conduct shall be apparent from the supplementary plate.
Symbols on supplementary plates have the same meaning as those included in Annex 1.
Onder verkeersborden aangebrachte onderborden kunnen inhouden:
een nadere uitleg van het verkeersbord;
ingeval op een onderbord uitsluitend symbolen voorkomen: het verkeersbord geldt slechts voor de aldus aangeduide weggebruikers of het aldus aangeduide verkeersgedrag;
ingeval op een onderbord het woord "uitgezonderd" in combinatie met symbolen voorkomt: het verkeersbord geldt niet voor de aldus aangeduide weggebruikers of het aldus aangeduide verkeersgedrag.
Indien het beoogde verkeersgedrag wordt aangegeven door middel van teksten of tekens al dan niet in combinatie met symbolen, blijkt het beoogde verkeersgedrag uit het onderbord.
Symbolen op onderborden hebben dezelfde betekenis als die welke in bijlage 1 zijn opgenomen.
