Deeds are signed writings intended to serve as evidence.
Authentic acts are acts executed in the required form and with due authority by public officials who, by or pursuant to the law, are charged with recording in that manner observations made or acts performed by them. Also considered as authentic acts are those acts the execution of which is reserved to public officials, but the execution of which is by law, in certain cases, assigned to persons other than public officials.
Private instruments are all instruments that are not authentic instruments.
Akten zijn ondertekende geschriften, bestemd om tot bewijs te dienen.
Authentieke akten zijn akten in de vereiste vorm en bevoegdelijk opgemaakt door ambtenaren, aan wie bij of krachtens de wet is opgedragen op die wijze te doen blijken van door hen gedane waarnemingen of verrichtingen. Als authentieke akten worden tevens beschouwd de akten, waarvan het opmaken aan ambtenaren is voorbehouden, doch waarvan de wet het opmaken in bepaalde gevallen aan anderen dan ambtenaren opdraagt.
Onderhandse akten zijn alle akten die niet authentieke akten zijn.
