For a listed monument activity, the rules referred to in Article 5.18 shall be established with a view to the preservation of cultural heritage and, within that framework, for the purpose of:
the prevention of disfigurement, damage, demolition or relocation of monuments and archaeological monuments,
promoting the use of monuments, if necessary by modifying those monuments, while taking into account the monumental values,
the conservation and preservation of archaeological monuments, preferably in situ.
Voor een rijksmonumentenactiviteit worden de regels, bedoeld in artikel 5.18, gesteld met het oog op het behoud van cultureel erfgoed en in dat kader tot:
het voorkomen van ontsiering, beschadiging, sloop of verplaatsing van monumenten en archeologische monumenten,
het bevorderen van het gebruik van monumenten, zo nodig door wijziging van die monumenten, rekening houdend met de monumentale waarden,
het conserveren en in stand houden van archeologische monumenten, bij voorkeur in situ.
