Before processing the option declaration, Our Minister of Foreign Affairs shall examine the payment obligation of the person opting in accordance with the Option and Naturalisation Fees Decree 2002 (Besluit optie- en naturalisatiegelden 2002). Unless the person opting qualifies for an exemption or a full waiver, he shall pay the option fee due under the Option and Naturalisation Fees Decree 2002 upon making his option declaration.
After payment of the option fee due, or after the decision to grant an exemption from such payment, Our Minister of Foreign Affairs shall process the option declaration and assess its completeness. If necessary, he shall request a supplement to the data.
Alvorens de optieverklaring in behandeling te nemen onderzoekt Onze Minister van Buitenlandse Zaken de betalingsverplichting van de optant overeenkomstig het Besluit optie- en naturalisatiegelden 2002. Tenzij de optant voor vrijstelling of gehele ontheffing in aanmerking komt, betaalt hij bij het afleggen van zijn optieverklaring het volgens het Besluit optie- en naturalisatiegelden 2002 verschuldigde optiegeld.
Na de betaling van het verschuldigde optiegeld, of na de beslissing tot ontheffing van die betaling, neemt Onze Minister van Buitenlandse Zaken de optieverklaring in behandeling en beoordeelt hij deze op haar volledigheid. Zo nodig verzoekt hij om aanvulling van de gegevens.
