A contract is reciprocal if each of the parties assumes an obligation for the purpose of obtaining the performance to which the other party, in exchange, binds itself towards it.
The provisions regarding reciprocal agreements shall apply mutatis mutandis to other legal relationships aimed at the mutual performance of obligations, insofar as the nature of those legal relationships does not preclude such application.
Een overeenkomst is wederkerig, indien elk van beide partijen een verbintenis op zich neemt ter verkrijging van de prestatie waartoe de wederpartij zich daartegenover jegens haar verbindt.
De bepalingen omtrent wederkerige overeenkomsten zijn van overeenkomstige toepassing op andere rechtsbetrekkingen die strekken tot het wederzijds verrichten van prestaties, voor zover de aard van die rechtsbetrekkingen zich daartegen niet verzet.
