Succession takes place by operation of law or by virtue of a last will and testament.

Intestate succession may be departed from by a testamentary disposition containing an institution of an heir or a disinheritance.

Erfopvolging heeft plaats bij versterf of krachtens uiterste wilsbeschikking.
2.
Van de erfopvolging bij versterf kan worden afgeweken bij een uiterste wilsbeschikking die een erfstelling of een onterving inhoudt.
